2011 Lightning Premiership Champions & Round 1
A fantastic effort on the weekend from the mighty Uni boys in taking out of Lightning Prmeiership last Sunday. The most pleasing aspect of the win was the amount of new players having their first hit out and also the manner in which we dominated pool play and finished off strongly in the final. More details can be found on the AAFL website.
This Sunday, sees the GF rematch between Uni and Waitakere. The Magpies will be much more of a formidable opponent this Sunday after their Lightning squad was well below it's best due to having a number of NZ internationals unavailable. In saying that, it's been a long autumn/winter of reflection for Uni who are itching to get set the record straight this season as we aim for the double title this year in which the ressies boys can go back to back.
The last few weeks of pre-season has been going beautifully under new coach Damien "Damo/JT" McDowell and fitness guru Chris "Hennie Muller/Angry man" Haden and the boys are itching to get on the park.
The action kicks off this Sunday at the home of the Uni Blues, Colin Maiden Park. Reserves start at 12:30, Seniors at 2pm. Ressies players ned to be there by 11:30an, Seniors by 12.
As always, we are a club that continues to develop new players into this great game, so if you are interested in playing or coming along to see what it is all about please dont hesitate to either contact the numbers below or come along to training on Wed nights at Colin Maiden @ 6pm.
